Followed the instructions, the part that froze 5 times on me yesterday played out nicely, hopefully it will stay like this. Kinda weird because I did try enabling this option before but it didn't help, maybe cleaning the cache helped since I tried a lot of versions and settings.
Anyways, thanks for the help, will update if it works or not.

After 5 hours of gameplay it froze again in Makna forest, happened again while scrolling through quests.

From last time I edited this post it happened about 5 times, something is still not right.
