Personally it looks way out of place here to me having Normals and Bumps in something like a Wii game.
Doesn't really need it and goes into territory of breaking the intended art design.
Subjectivity stated matter of factly, at it's finest.
I personally think that normal and bump mapping add a sense of depth and detail that complement the original artstyle well.
Must be why Nintendo /Monolith soft chose to use them in the sequel.
