Please make a new thread in the Controllers Forum for any help you need for Wiimotes. I know it's not the right place. I just didn't want to make a whole new thread for what I assumed would be a single post from me with the question, followed by a single post with the answer from someone else. I figured that would be kind of a waste of space. And then since I was already talking with people here, I figured I'd just ask, you know...After all, I only registered on this forum in the first place because I wanted to ask about the Xenoblade textures, and I couldn't do that without registering, since this forum doesn't allow guests to post... Anyway, noted, I will stop talking about it here. Do I have to make a new thread, or can you just move my controller question post to the correct sub-forum/thread? 10-31-2015, 11:38 AM
To wrap up your question, if you just want a pointer on the screen, a sensor bar is just a bunch of infrared LEDs that give off two points of infrared light, and do not send or receive any actual data. The wiimote looks for these two points and calculates the cursor position from them. This means any sources of infrared will work, even two candles. You can even make your own USB powered sensor bar. I wrote up a way to do it at the bottom of this tutorial a long time ago, although it is much easier these days to buy a Dolphinbar or other USB powered sensor bar.
If you want motion controls then you need a motion+ if you have a regular wiimote. I've been using a cheap bluetooth dongle, wiimote, and a motion plus adapter for years, and it works on all Windows versions from XP-10 using either the Microsoft stack or Broadcom WIDCOMM stack. I use the latter because it seems to have less problems with my bluetooth dongle. Wiimotes with motion+ built in (most of them anyway) usually require the Toshiba stack to function at all if you are using a bluetooth dongle, or you can just use the Dolphinbar. Dolphinbar LEDs have a tendency to die, so that is something to expect. From my tests it seems the inner 3 LEDs are being fed more voltage than required which may end up in a short life span. They can be replaced which requires some soldering knowledge. Some might suggest replacing the resistors, but since they are SMT it can be much trickier than replacing burnt LEDs with better quality ones. Not quite a tutorial, but I took some pictures with some captions here. That should answer any questions or at least provide enough info to find more answers. But yes do try to stay on topic as this thread is already really long and there is a place for controller related subjects. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Forum-controllers 11-02-2015, 04:28 AM

You're giving me way too much information compared to what I need to know dude, and you're being way too technical. I have neither the skills nor the interest to try and make or fix my own wiimote or sensor bar, and I don't really want to know or try to understand the technicalities of how things work. I just want to know a way to connect them, and where to find a sensor bar that works and that I can use. That's it. All of my 4 wiimotes already come with built-in motion plus anyway. I replaced my regular wiimotes long ago. So it sounds like I should be all set if I just get a Dolphinbar. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Now no offense, but please stop talking about this, if you don't mind (I intended for this discussion to stop and end with my previous message). I don't want to get banned. 11-02-2015, 05:22 AM
Like he said, you can actually just put up two candles 20-30 cm apart from each other. That's all the 'sensor' bar does. It actually doesn't have any sensors

Hey I guys, I used ishiiruka dolphin to give the sand in eryth sea some displacment maps check it out! XD
The sand now has geometry! XD 11-05-2015, 10:55 AM
That's pretty interesting. I'm not sure if I exactly like the way it looks in certain spots, but it's pretty cool/interesting that you can apply that sort of effect using ishiiruka itself. Looks like I'm going to have to delve into the ishiiruka thread sometime soon, lots to catch up on.

Hello,
i have lags during cutcenes and the audio sounds strange. Without the texture pack i don't have any of these issues. But i thought that my system shouldn't have any problems with this mod. Intel i5 3570k 3,6GH'z ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Nvidea GTX770 (4GB Vram) 8 GB DDR3 RAM I tried out the minimal configurations in Dolphin (no AA, AS, Native resuloution) and i also tried it with recommended configurations. Could it be possible that my RAM is not big enough? Because with the setting "Pre-fetch custom textures" my RAM is gone in no time. I would be happy if somebody could help me. best regards Whitcomb 11-09-2015, 07:25 AM
Your system specs are fine for this pack and Dolphin. If you don't have enough RAM it just won't prefetch. If you are using DDS textures you probably won't even need prefetch.
What kind of lag is it, stuttering lag or low fps? Which texture packs are you using (DDS/PNG, Standard/SuperHD/UltraHD)? |
