There has been so many times where I tried making 3D effects with only the bevel and emboss tools and ended up with something beyond horrible. As it turns out, gradients can go a long way with making things pop. This still needs more work, but for now I really like where its going.
Also, is this really a paletted texture? It's been showing up every time for me...
You're killing me Echoes, that was another I was gonna do eventually. But, you nailed it, so I can't complain haha. Looks great! I tried making it awhile back but failed, it's always been my intention to try again but now I don't have to. And yes it's a paletted texture but it's one of the special cases that never changes. Luckily there's actually a lot them, or this texture pack would be immense and dumping everything would definitely lead to insanity instead of just on the threshold of it. I think it all comes down to how they are stored in RAM, so the textures that never change must always end up in the exact same spot. A good example of this is the small borders on the Load screen after the title screen. They are always the same IDs every time, because the sequence of events and loaded textures are always the same, but all other small borders in the game are constantly changing.
I took a small break from pack reorganization to fix a long standing issue that's been bugging me for a long time. The tabs don't line up for the gem crafting screen, and the glow doesn't line up in the inventory screen. I tried to fix it "proper", but after awhile I just had to accept that both screen scale differently. So, I came up with a cheap fix, eliminate the parts that are supposed to line up completely. It's not perfect, but overall it looks much better.
