xbox360 New Super Mario Bros -- move platform left/right? + per game config

I'm new to Dolphin, using version 5.0. I have gotten Super Mario Galaxy up and running well with my Xbox360 controller. I'm now trying New Super Mario Bros Wii. Everything works with the controller setting I have except one thing: moving platforms to the left/right. When Mario gets on such a platform it automatically moves as far left as possible and no button can move it.

Any suggestions on how to set up two buttons, perhaps the shoulder buttons LB and RB, to control those moves?

Here are screenshots of my controller configuration from the Dolphin GUI ( http://imgur.com/a/7mGzM

I also do not want to make any changes that breaks the configuration for Super Mario Galaxy. I found this thread about per game settings but that thread is hard for a noob - it just starts with a long list of ini options without any information on what files to edit or where to save them and if there are any boxes to check etc in the GUI for per game settings. Can anyone fill in those blanks here?

Thank you in advance, Dolphin is amazing!

I think you have to configure one or more of the Tilt actions for the Wii Remote to be able to move the platforms.

Creating a separate controller profile isn't especially hard - use the Save button in the controller configuration, then you can load it again with Load. Making Dolphin automatically switch on a per-game basis does however require you to do what's listed in that thread. To open the file that you can put game-specific settings in, right-click on a game, select Properties, and press the Edit Config button.

Just a reminder, 5.0 is not out yet. What you are using is a release candidate. And that release candidate is behind the development builds!

As for your problem, you are going to have to make separate configurations for each game. That's just how it is with emulated wiimote, you have to customize it for every game and profiles for one game can usually not be used in another successfully. You can save and load profiles to make this easier, though.

Thanks. I added the LB and RB buttons in the tilt section as Left and Right. Like this

[Image: mNo6OjA.png]

That does the trick. Or almost. When I get on a movable platform it by default moves to the left without any button pressed. Pressing the right shoulder button ( RB ) I set up on the xbox360 controller overrides that and moves right. But is there a way to disable the default move to the left?

Thank you, that works. More details in case any other new users wants to do the same: If I right click the game New Super Mario Bros > click properties > click Edit Config then the program opens SMNE01.ini from the folder C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\GameSettings\

That file was blank. In it I added this text
Code:
[Controls]
WiimoteProfile1 = newsupermariobros1
WiimoteProfile2 = newsupermariobros2
WiimoteProfile3 = newsupermariobros3
WiimoteProfile4 = newsupermariobros4
Where newsupermariobros1 and so on are names of the profiles I earlier saved in the Dolphin Controller setup GUI. Those profile ini files are located in C:\Users\[username]\\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Config\Profiles\Wiimote . All four ini files are exactly the same except for this line
Code:
Device = XInput/0/Gamepad
The 0 means the first xbox360 controller that is plugged in. In newsupermariobros2.ini I changed it to XInput/1/Gamepad, in newsupermariobros3.ini to XInput/2/Gamepad and in newsupermariobros4.ini to XInput/3/Gamepad . The game should work with 4 controllers then I think.

Aha, so for example development version 4.0-7478 would have all the features of version 5.0-rc-19 and then some? I had (mistakenly it seems) thought that the 5 RC versions were a separate branch so to speak. Anyway the 5 rc I'm using works very well so far.

5.0 is a separate branch that is based on 4.0-6727, so it won't contain any improvements made after 4.0-6727 except for some bugfixes. For you, two major improvements in the development builds would be the improved audio HLE in Super Mario Galaxy and high-res spinning coins in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
