xbox360 controller issues

i was hoping someone could help me.. having trouble gtting dolphin to recognize my 360 wired controller on mario brothers2 and on mario galaxy2 it just says plug in nunchuck and just stops...am i being completely stupid and missing something so obvious that i need a slap!!!! please help a fool cheers

Yeah, need a slap.
Wiimote plugin config: choose nunchuk extension. :/
