I've read a bunch of similar threads but none helped.

My controller is recognized from the Controllers Setup (XInput/0/Gamepad), and I set it up like I saw in a few Youtube videos, in Port 1. Everything works there and all the bindings are recognised.

The problem is the controller is completely unrecognized ingame. I'm trying to play Xenoblade Chronicles and the game waits until the "Press any key" bit, then doesn't move.

I've tried both the stable version as well as the development version, same behaviour in both.

It turns out that the game uses a Wiimote instead of the Gamecube controller.

After I set the Wiimote bindings, it works. I guess the game just doesn't work with Gamecube controllers?

Exactly, this game doesn't support GameCube controllers either in Dolphin or on the original hardware. The back of the game's box will list which controllers are compatible, and the Dolphin Wiki also lists it.
