Bug
Hi there first I wanna say Hello to the forums since this is my first thread.

So yes, I've been recently testing the emulator with the Xbox One controller official driver for Windows 7 on some of the latest builds. At first it worked perfectly fine with gamecube games like Smash and Fzero, I didnt even have to remapped the buttons on the controller tab because it automatically detects my previous configuration that I used with my 360 controller, through XInput I think. So I though it was cool because it worked withouth any work like I had to with the GC controller adapter.

But then I started testing some Wii games with both the 4.0-6153 (my fav build so far) and the new 4.0-8072 and I immediately detected some heavy slowdowns! Of course at first I didnt know what was going on because I had played and finished both Donkey Kong Country Returns and Resident Evil 4 Wii with my other controllers and the Xbone controller was the only thing I changed to my hardware but I didnt imagine it would make a massive difference to my setup. So just when I was about to uninstall some other important drivers on my PC, I checked this and realized it was the Xbone controller causing the slowdowns on wii games.

So yeah I just wanted to notify on this problem if it hasnt been detected. I know the Xbone controller is still very new and probably not officially supported so I dont expect fixes soon, I can use my old controllers fine but I think its good to say it cause it could cause some confusion to some users.

Thanks, keep up the great work!

I just joined the forum to ask this question, except I have an Xbox 360 Controller.

I was using an old Saitek p990 and Dolphin was running like a dream but the Saitek wasn't working with my modern PC games such as NBA 2K16, so I went and got an Xbox 360 controller, Windows 10 installed the drivers and now Dolphin runs like crap.
Hopefully this can be fixed soon..

Is this issue even on the developers radar?

I've searched around the net and apart from this thread and one person on youtube mentioning the same thing, I've found no fixes for this

I wonder the same lol. I made this question weeks ago but no one hasnt answer yet. The best thing for now is to stick to 360 controllers or Nintendo ones. Its odd because other emulators I've tried dont have this problem with XOne controllers so I dont think its a compatibility or MS driver problem.

Funny thing, I'm using the Xbox 360 controller and I'm getting the same slow down you're seeing with the XONE controller.

I also noticed the slow down when using a PS3 controller with motion joy.

This article on the wiki-dolphin (link below) sort of mentions the issue and says that Dolphin version 4.0-7358 improves but doesn't eliminate the problem.

Quote:For some reason, using a controller that interfaces with the XInput API that Dolphin uses, like an Xbox 360 controller, instead of using a keyboard that uses a different API can slow down the emulation of this game. See issue 8490. The bug is improved but not entirely eliminated probably thanks to 4.0-7538.

I downloaded version 4.0-7538 and did notice improvements in some games and some games ran perfectly but there was still total slow down on other games.

I want this topic to get more attention. I have noticed this as well...it only seems to affect the Wii Remote emulation though; gamecube controller emulation works fine.

I was playing Brawl with emulated gamecube controllers just fine. I wanted to play Xenoblade(which doesn't support gamecube controllers) and noticed that not only did the game start lagging at random but my entire system was lagging as well. I left the game running and opened the emulator menus to look at the settings only to find that my mouse was jumping all over the place. Unplugging my Xone controller and plugging it in again seems to fix it for 10-15 seconds but then it starts slowing down again...

I went back to Brawl, this time leaving it with emulated Wiimote instead of gamecube controller, and the same slowdowns occurred. If anybody knows of a fix that would be great.

I have a DolphinBar and a Wii Remote Plus built in to play wii games. I should get a xbox one controller to play GC games. Do you know if these slowdowns occurs in the GC games too? Thx

The slowdowns do not occur when emulating GC controllers.

For everyone having trouble with Xbox One controllers killing performance as Wii Remotes, I found the cause of the problem; the rumble function. Playing around with it I discovered that removing the rumble motors from the controllers setup fixed my slowdown issues. I re-added the rumble motors and had no performance issues. However some time later the issues returned(I had rebooted so I don't know if problems would have returned otherwise).

At the very least, removing the rumble function gets you a working controller. Hopefully the Devs will find a way to fix this strange issue.
