I have been trying for the last hour to get my wireless XBOX 360 controller to work via Play & Charge kit. Finally I read somewhere that the P&C kit doesn't work this way. Can someone tell if this is true still and if there is anyway around it. Thanks.

XBOX 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit?
|
I'm not sure what you mean by "get the wireless 360 controller to work via the play and charge kit". If you mean use the USB adapter for connectivity with the system (no wireless receiver), I'm pretty sure that won't work. If my memory is correct (been a while), wireless 360 controllers are designed to use wireless only for communications with the console/PC. The play and charge kit's USB connection is only used for power so even when connected via USB it will still use the wireless receiver for connectivity.

If you want it to work as a wired controller, you'll have to change the main chip in the controller to one from a wired controller, which would not connect to the wireless system, so it would only work as a wired controller.
Basically, the data part of the USB lead connects to the same part of the chip, but the chip just sends battery information etc.. Basically to make it function like a wired controller, they'd have to buy a wired controller, and transplant parts of it. This is obviously less sensible than just using the wired controller, particularly as the chip is not hand-solderable as the contacts are really tiny.

Thanks. it can't be done, no hid information is passed over the charge cable. 07-12-2012, 11:46 PM
Quote:no hid information is passed over the charge cable. Basically that. However a load of places on the internet claim it is possible, and if the OP has read some of those forums, then my mess of deliberately confusing information would explain that all of those forums are inhabited by idiots.

That will fix this issue.
