Xbox 360 wired gamepad

When you say "the pad doesn't show up" you mean it doesn't even appear in "Device"?

First of all, which particular controller are you trying to set up? The GameCube controller, Wii Remote, nunchuck, and classic controller need separate configurations. The GC is under GCPad while all the Wii stuff is under Wiimote.

Second, make sure you choose Xinput in the device selection. It should say something like "DInput/0/Keyboard Mouse" by default, so click the down arrow and select "Xinput/0/Gamepad."

I BURN THAT F......G 360 GAMEPAD AND CHOOSE A GOOD OL' GENERIC USB CONTROLLER!
F..K MICROSOFT AND THEIR DAMNED PRODUCTS.
