xbox 360 controller not detected in-game [SOLVED]

so i just started using dolphin today and wondering if i skipped a step or two...

i'm using my xbox360 controller (it's working fine in other games and pcsx2 emu)
i followed the instruction in the wiki, word by word
i can map and test the buttons just fine
but after i start the game, it's not working at all

please send help

PS:
the game in question is Rune Factory Frontier
tried with dolphin 5.0 and 3.0, both have same issue

Rune Factory Frontier doesn't support GameCube controllers (as noted in the infobox on the game's wiki page). I suggest configuring a Classic Controller instead (set Wiimote 1 to Emulated Wiimote and set its extension to Classic).
