Huh thats weird I had that problem at first with the 360 controller back when I was trying to get it working. All 1001. The first thing I decided to do was update the drivers, then after a restart it worked... Now for that gamecube controller idk what to say. If your analogs work with the gamecube controller then by all means use Joy2Key with that instead. The next thing i would say if your absolutely sure all your drivers are up to date and stuff, try a clean download of Dolphin, make a separate folder and configure it all again. It might not hurt to try and run it in compatibility mode for windows xp sp2/sp3. Try that let me know what you get.
OH! Shoot try this! Settings -> Gamecube tab -> Port 1 should be set as "Standard Controller" see if that clears things up. I had you setting that to dummy controller, but that works for me not u.

*Homer Simpson Voice* DOH! I forgot to swtich that back before I played the gamecube game. That and changing triggers back to sdl. All is well with gamecube now. I just have to fix the wii plugin. I'll double check and see if all my drivers are up to date and start from scratch with dolphin.

it's because joy2key is dumbbbb. I mean, I can see that you need it for the wiimote plugin, since it sucks...but for the x360pad plugin, you need to NOT use joy2key xD

Well it would be great if the x360pad plugin worked for the majority of us.... but it doesnt. So drastic measures take place.

I got the buttons on the xbox controller to work with the x360pad plugin, but the analog sticks or the d-pad still don't register. All the characters move up automatically and it does that on the menu options in game too. Still nothing on the wii mote plugin.

One Question: Do I have to use an xbox 360 controller or would another type work?

I'm pretty sure you just use the 360 wired controller.

How did you manage to get it to register your buttons? See mine is opposite it registers my analogs and triggers, but no buttons. Thats why I had to use Joy2Key

I uninstalled the xbox software that I downloaded from microsoft's website and deleted the driver through the device manager. I restarted my pc and vista (I moved back yesterday) installed a driver as soon as I plugged the controller in. I set dolphin to run as windows xp sp2 and this time I was able to set the buttons with the njoy plugin. I was able to change things in the xbox 360 plugin earlier today, but now that has stopped working. I can still change buttons with the njoy plugin though.

I'm not sure why people are so dense.
You don't change the mapping with the x360/keyboard plugin. The mappings in that plugin are ONLY for keyboard keys.
