Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else encountered something like this... I dual-boot XP32 and Server 08 x64 (Basically Vista SP1). In XP32, everything works great, but it's a little slow (understandably). In Vista64, however, using the 32-bit version (IL or not), there are numerous hangs and weird graphic glitches, but it generally runs at about the same speed as in XP32. The 64-bit version, however (whether I use dual-core or not) runs at about 3-5 fps (as compared to about 20-25 for the 32-bit) in addition to all the same weird graphics glitches I get in 32-bit for this OS.
I've so far only tested Zelda TP Gamecube on revisions 2972 and 2962 (same results for x86, x86IL, and x64 versions of each... the x64IL doesn't seem to want to boot the game at all). In each, I've tried dualcore on/off (makes a big difference on the x86 builds, but on x64 no difference at all), and Dynarec on. DSP is off (there's no sound in zelda anyway... seems to speed up both versions) and graphics is using OGL. I'm planning to test other games, configurations, etc. I'll also give Win7 x64 a try (once I get a hold of it, which should be soon) and see what the results are there. I can (hopefully) OC and get the x86+XP version playable fast, but I was wondering what sort of problems there were with 64-bit.
My configuration:
- Intel core 2 duo E6600 at sock speed (2.4 GhZ)
- Radeon HD 4850 at 625 MhZ
- 3GB RAM (mixed vendors) at stock speed
- ASUS P5B Deluxe
- Other stuff...
Thanks for any insights you can provide,
All the best,
fraserofthenight
