Has anyone here tried forcing dolphin to recognize a gc controller as a xbox 360 controller with x360ce? The adapter driver zadig method is annoying and not a true solution. It wouod be muuuch simpler to just have it recognized as an xbox 360 controller from the jump, which is the whole use for x360ce I know x360ce works perfectly for steam games and such but does it work with Dolphin?

You can use x360ce with Dolphin, but as far as I can see, it just turns a DInput controller into an XInput controller. Dolphin already supports both DInput and XInput, so x360ce doesn't actually let you do anything you couldn't already do.

If you have a GC controller adapter that supports DInput, then you can just use it in Dolphin directly, or (as far as I know) you can use it through x360ce if you want to. If you have a GC controller adapter that's made for the Wii U and doesn't have a separate PC mode, you will need to use something like vJoy. (This vJoy requirement also applies if you want to use the adapter with PC games.)

I was told that the analog triggers would only function as digital buttons unless made to be recognized as a x360 controller. Or unless I used the zadig method. I cant test it because my gc controller is still coming in the mail and wont be here for quite some time since its coming in from Japan (a rare hori model with dual z buttons)

Well, I don't see how x360ce would be able to extract any analog data that Dolphin wouldn't be able to pick up on its own... But I haven't tested this scenario myself and don't know exactly how it works.

Is it an actual GameCube controller (in other words, a controller that works on a GameCube), or is it a USB controller that's made to look like a GameCube controller?

Actual controller relrelea by hori during the lifespan of the console. Hori has never released a USB controller as far as I know.

I think this is the solution to my problem. A program that tinkers with the acrual drivers, making it so that any and all controllers are converted to xinput devices. I haven't tried it just yet (still waiting on my gamecube controller) but this seems extremely promising. The gamecube controller is proportededly among the tested controllers and works with a high accuracy rating. There is even a video demonstration and all appears to be working exactly as explained. Curiously, the author of this program has a YouTube channel with merely 12 subscribers despite breaking new ground in an all new area.

For anyone prefering to use their gamecube controller (or even wii u pro controller) as an xinput device through dolphin, it appears that this program appears to let you do exactly that.
