I've enjoyed using dolphin and playing wii games and I always wanted to play with the wii-mote but stopped at the obstacle of getting a working wii sensor bar. There are a few knock-off brands available on ebay but my research indicated that these are junk - you either have to build it or buy one from nintendo. I finally decided to dive in and ordered myself a batch of IR LED's and enough other supplies to make 2 complete wired usb sensor bars. The first one sold quickly so I've decided to do limited runs of these until I get tired of it or the soldering fumes dumb me down too much.

The second sensor bar from my first run is still up on ebay if you want to check it out, just look for wii USB sensor bar and it's the one that looks distinctly home made from scratch. I've ordered a second run of slightly smaller boxes and will do about 6 more sensor bars and see how it goes. If you would like one of the sensor bars from this next run or if you would like to request a specific LED array size / box size / power source for your wii sensor bar made feel free to send me a private message. The information on how to make these is widely available but if you have any questions feel free to contact me or post.

Here is the text from my auction with more specifics:

Summary
Up for auction is a custom wired USB wii sensor bar for use with Wii, Wii-U, and Dolphin. I built myself one of these, and ordered enough components to do an extra. I've been using mine for a few weeks now and it's working perfectly. This product is significantly more durable and higher powered than a standard wii sensor bar (which also only has 3 LED's in its array). I used high quality flashlight IR LEDs to make these and they have easily a 15 foot range. The lights actually give off a faint red glow, the pictures are somewhat distorted by the camera. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Happy bidding and good luck!
