I don't have a gamecube, but I still have my games. I've gone through and config'd it all according to the wiki and it looks amazing and everything seems to work fine.

black screen crash as windfall loads up. went to the wiki and found the fix item hang patch. Fantastic, I got through and was able to save. I immediately closed down and turned off the patch as it caused there to be almost no audio.

reloaded the game. still no sound. There's footsteps and splashing but no voices, music, or 99% of the secondary audio.

Is there a way to get it back?

cool.

on a related note, what is to be done when the item hang patch doesn't stop a gray screen crash?

Try to use DSP LLE but I suggest you to use Dolphin 3.0 for this game (disable Audio Throttle)

I am using dolphin 3.0.

the patch got me through the first hang, but now I've got a hang after the boss and I don't see any alternative solutions when one doesn't work.

Try the official Dolphin 3.0 release or the newest git version of Dolphin.

Are you using 3.0-651? If yes. You ARE NOT using Dolphin 3.0 (the official release).

1- Get it here : http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html?rev=v30&arch=win64

2- In DSP : don't check Enable Audio Throttle

I never got any real issue in this game. LLE isn't even needed if you don't mind unperfect sound
