What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
When using GameCube adapter for Wii U, Windows Power Plan will not recognize any input coming from the GameCube controller, even if Dolphin recognizes input. As a result, Windows will automatically turn off the display and/or put the computer to sleep in the middle of gameplay. It will do this even during intense game segments.
After the display is turned off, sound can still be heard and the controller will act as normal within Dolphin, but its input will not reawaken the display.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
In Control Panel > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings, to save time while testing issue, set Turn off the display to 1 minute and Put the computer to sleep to Never.
1. Set controller settings to GameCube adapter for Wii U and connect GameCube controller.
2. Start a game.
3. Wait until display turns off. Take note of any controller input made.
(Super Smash Bros. Melee is an easy game to test this on. With above power settings listed above, the screen should turn off right at Sheik's segment of the opening video.)
Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.
Yes. 5.0-12683
Is the issue present in the latest stable version?
No. 5.0
If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-gr...ken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)
5.0-10007 1 year, 5 months ago Config: Move the 'Display' settings from ConfigManager to the layered config system (PR #7841 from iwubcode)
What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)
Windows 10 x64
Intel Core i7-6700 @ 3.40GHz
AMD Radeon RX 480
16GB total RAM
Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)
1. If using a Standard Controller configuration (Xinput, Dinput, etc.) Windows will indeed recognize input, so even if the screen powers down pressing a button/key will turn the screen back on.
2. For 5.0-10005 and earlier, Dolphin seems to override Windows Power settings - the display will not be turned off due to inactivity.
