Windows 8

The big reason Microsoft is pushing for Windows 8 instead of trying to update the nt kernel on 7, is because the kernel used in Windows 8 has arm support so I assume this is something instead of being updated, needs remade. The appeal to Windows 8 is that it's so spread out on multiple types of devices, and real time integration with Live services. Also when I say Live, I don't just mean Xbox Live, or Games for Windows Live. Judging off of early leaks of Windows 8, will we see any performance boosts? Probably not, unless a certain app is made only for 8's kernel versions on the x86/64 or ARM side.

NT kernal is portable. WinNT4 had an Alpha,MIPS,PowerPC support and there's the IA64 port of XP/Server2K8.

And I answered to myself, of course it's to soon for a new version of Windows, the way things get sped up these days it's soon gonna be impossible to keep up with all these new versions and releases. What's next, an new OS every quarter? Windows 8....eh who needs it. 07-12-2011, 02:02 AM

I maybe said once that I wasn't gonna leave XP for it's awesomeness but that I did and here I am with Windows 7 the greatest successor to XP in my book and I have no plans leaving it for quite some time, it stays as long as XP. 07-12-2011, 02:35 AM
