A legitimately useful feature of windows 8: It apparently automatically detects if an app needs certain common frameworks to run that you don't have on your system (.Net for example) and downloads/installs the framework automatically.

I guess that's similar in nature to a number of package managers on Linux. Makes sense that such a feature is put into Windows 8 for apps; I'm sure MS wants to make the experience as easy and smooth as possible. I assume it'll update things accordingly as well.

Won't the program need to be installed for that to happen, since dolphin just unzips and you run from there.

Nope. See below.

Yup, only works with installers.

Maverick Hunter X's guide to installing Windows 8:

1. Unpack the Windows 8 box and take out everything from the box.

2. Insert the cord to your shredder.

3. Begin reading the manual by shredding it.

4. Take your shiny Microsoft Windows 8 DVD and install it using the shredder, you'll be amazed how easy Windows 8 gets installed on that system.

5. Enjoy Windows 8!
