Sad
Hey all I went through the last few pages of threads on this board and didn't see anything like what I'm getting and figured I'd start a new one.

So yeah, after unzipping I attempt to load Dolphin.exe and it appears to begin loading and the cursor spins then goes back to normal. No sign of the program....UNTIL I check my task manager and see this:

Woahhh did I really try to open it that many times? Well yeah, but apparently I can't kill any of them without restarting. After seeing this I restarted and decided to try the most recent stable for my system (over 1 year ago)and it worked well enough but I'd like to be current. I also tried running the current build under different compatibility modes but still nada.

Lemme know if I need to include more details, will post asap.

UPDATE: I am currently downloading and trying several of the most recent builds to see if any of them introduced a bug.

UPDATE 2: After trying a 10 of the most recent versions as well as a build from over a month ago (which I can only assume is enough time to have ironed out any bug that completely prevents startup) I'm getting the same issue so obviously it's on my end. Still stumped.

I had the same problem when I was using Dolphin in an enterprise environment. The thing is, computers that are using Active Directory will have this problem. Here's the solution: Login as Administrator.

And no, right clicking and clicking "Run as Administrator" won't work. You need to be logged in as Administrator account, which uses SAM instead of Active Directory. And that solution worked for me.

Yayyy it works. I had to first ENABLE "Administrator" which was it's own chore in command prompt. That's a bit obnoxious, but it will have to do. Now I can go about finding answers to the hundreds of questions I'm sure I'm about to have.

Thanks so much, kudos!

Some Dolphins aren't happy unless they're part of a pod.

The Mac OS X version of this build also has similar issues. It starts, I can even make configurations using it, but it crashes (quits unexpectedly) EVERY time I try starting a game (it happens with each and every game I have and every time). The previous build (4.0-5186) had no issues at all when starting a game. The change was the addition of support of GC keyboard, but is this really related to the crashes? I didn't change anything in the controllers configuration before starting a game.

Same problem here on OS X (10.9.5)

Crashes on running a game on 4.0-5222

I guess you're talking about using this command in a command prompt to activate the in-built Administrator account in Windows 8/8.1:

net user Administrator /active:yes

If that's the case then that's what I personally use, with that account you can do anything without stupid permissions.

Technically it works even with a regular user account that is set as an Administrator account, or any user account that uses SAM. Any user account that uses Active Directory in Windows (which is basically an accounting system used in networks, activated through Windows Server 2012 R2 or earlier to be used with any Windows OS from XP onwards).
