So i installed Dolphin (4.0.2) so that i can play Project M 3.02 on my desktop (Windows 8.1) with a PS3 controller (Better DS3 1.5.3 with MotioninJoy driver 0.7.1001). Runs great, solid 60fps on over half the stages, however every couple of matches it crashes. I've been looking for the common link, a level of character present at all crashes, and i cant seem to find one. Now here's where it gets interesting, if i launch dolphin but not a game, if i just sit at the iso menu, it will still crash eventually, even if i do nothing. And before anyone asks my OS, my Directx, and my nVidia drivers are all up to date, and my overclocks are 24/7 stable.

i found a file at <documents>\Dolphin Emulator\Logs called dolphin.log that contains a bunch of lines that are all XX:XX:XXX Src\NANDContentLoader.cpp:217 W[DIO]: CreateFromDirectory: error opening D:/Documents/Dolphin Emulator/Wii/title/00000001/00000002/content/title.tmd
upon investigation that directory doesn't even exist. the only folder in D:\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Wii\title\00000001\00000002 is a folder called data

You could try creating the missing folder (content) and then running the game again. Also, what does the crash error says? Maybe it could be related to missing Visual C++ DLLs.

That folder isn't needed, it is just dolphin scanning to see if you have a system menu installed or not.

Try these:
1) Update drivers, Windows updates, DirectX Web installer (may be missing some parts), and latest version of Visual C++
2) Make sure under Power Management in Windows you're running in High Performance. Also set a high performance profile under Nvidia Control Center
3) Use the OpenGL backend on one of the latest dev builds, as it is faster than D3D. The current dev build is 4.0-765

It doesnt say anything, its just the windows "program has stopped responding window", also creating the director did nothing. I did realize that the times in the log file do NOT correspond to the times of the crashes however.

1) As stated in the original post, my drivers and windows are up to date, as are my directx and Visual C++. Please read the thread before posting useless generic help copypasta next time.

2) Being a desktop that would be odd, but ive see weirder things before, so i checked, and everything in there is as it should be.

3) Tried the Open GL backbone on 4.0.2, no dice, ill download a dev version next. I assume i will have to reflash the system ans such? Also tried windows 7 compatibility mode, and disabling thread optimization in nVidia Control panel, no help there. EDIT: okay, 4.0-780 doesnt ever run SSBB.....

Does this program have any other place it dumps logs that may be of use? I downloaded the source code but for some reason it wont link to my windows SDK and so im getting tons of include errors (i can literally right click go to file and open it, but the compiler cant link it) Im trying to build the .pdb file so i can use VS2012's just in time debugger to get some additional information, does anymore have the file?

1) people say they have everything up to date, but then they check one of those, and there's something missing (I've done it before setting up other computers to play)

Post your graphics config tabs as pictures so we can see what you have set up.

You can also try resetting the cache in Dolphin
