Yeah it was really slow. Mine probably finished a while ago, now to backup some stuff and begin installing.

Finished the upgrade, so far everything working as it should and overall the system feels a lot more faster and responsible. However, I really disliked the new appearance, the interface is pretty functional and make much more sense compared to Windows 8 but I found it too ugly, but that's just my personal taste

Well I'm on the other side, but unfortunately the NVIDIA drivers are messed up. They don't detect my 970 and fail to install.
Edit: Works now after a reboot and auto installed updates. Guessing something was blocking it out behind the scenes. Edit: Brb, gotta upgrade for my key... sigh. So dumb. 07-30-2015, 07:15 AM
Got everything working I think, but steam doesn't render correctly so I can't see anything XD

I've been trying to get my laptop ready (because it's a nuisance to take a large desktop on holiday) and everything's taking ages (because holiday wifi sucks balls) and as well as this I've found issues such as it rebooting instead of loading from a hibernation and I've had to fight to get updated Intel HD 4000 drivers, which is a pain.

For anyone wondering, after doing an in-place update, MS will silently generate a Windows 10 product key from your previous Windows 7/8 key and will silently activate and link that key to your Microsoft account. Then, you can retrieve your new Windows 10 key with any key viewer (I used NirSoft ProduKey for this).
Other scenarios I've tested after doing that: booting directly from install media to do a clean install will ask you a product key, leave it empty and finish install. From here you can connect to your Microsoft account you've been using during in-place upgrade to get your system silently activated again OR you can manually input your new Windows 10 key you retrieved earlier (useful if you prefer a local account). In both cases your system will be activated again, without troubles. After a whole day messing around I can say that everything working as it should, and the system is very responsible. The only problem I faced so far (and didn't find a solution yet) is the custom scaling. My laptop has a high density screen, so, if I just use the standard scaling (96 DPI) in native resolution, the UI and other icons become so tiny that I would need a magnifying glass to use it. By default, in Windows 8 the OS would simply apply 125% zoom in everything, solving the issue but leaving non-high DPI aware programs blurry. To fix that I simply used normal scaling with a higher DPI setting (120 in my case), completely fixing the blurry apps and still having a proper size. And that's exactly my issue in Windows 10: it doesn't matter what I do, some apps still look blurry and I didn't find any place where I could enable the old behaviour from Windows 8/7. It's not a deal breaker, but the blurry programs starts to annoy after looking to them for a while...

If so that's the generic key that gets used when you skip the product key steps during install. Btw you don't need to use a Microsoft account at all. I've just completed everything with a local one. I don't remember it ever asking me for a microsoft account, I plan on doing a clean install soon, but I'm still confused as to how that works.

I don't remember doing anything during the in-place upgrade but I got a completely different product key. Weird Quote:Did you reboot after changing the scaling? Yes I did. But some apps are still blurry. Apparently it's forcing the new behaviour introduced in Windows 8.1, not letting me switch back to Windows 7/8 behaviour, but at least Windows 8.1 allowed me to do that. All I need is just a way to use a custom DPI without messing with scale percentage, like before, but MS thinks different. Interesting enough, a tech report from Lifehacker also wrote an article complaining of that too...
