@Garteal

I've installed the same redists as my W7 install. Complaining of msvcp120.dll and msvcr120.dll. I'm sticking with Dolphin 4.0-7528 since there were issues reported with Windwaker in newer builds and I didn't know if the crashes/hangs were resolved yet. Regardless Dolphin launches on my W7 install just not W10. As long as everything is installed right I don't need those dll's in the Dolphin folder.

I was referring to official as inbuilt into Windows. Insert DVD, play movie with windows media player.

msvcp120.dll and msvcr120.dll are from Visual C++ 2013, older builds are bundled with them. And if you want to play a DVD disc directly in Windows Media Player, you'll need codecs for that. Installing PowerDVD should allow Windows Media Player playing DVD discs too...

Oh so it's just a codec issue then. I have K-lite codec pack but I may just end up installing PowerDVD so I can play Blu-Ray movies.

I knew there was another Visual C++ redist I was missing. I blame it on Bing lol. Was using the Edge browser with Bing to search and download drivers, redists. Nothing came up on the first page anyway for VC++ redist 2013.

what?

afaik you could play DVD's without codecs in windows vista, 7 and 8. dont know about 10 but why would that change?

Hmm.. some games seem to be working a bit better under Windows 10. Skyrim which was a jittery and stuttery mess seems to be mostly smooth now with some fps drops and at 60fps on a single GTX 460. Maybe my Windows 7 install was broken or Nvidia drivers I'm using in W10 are better than my W7 drivers or W10 is doing something that is making some games perform better. I'm sure it wasn't this smooth in W7 as I am experiencing with W10. :o

Edit: I noticed I'm not getting some texture flickering/shimmering I was and somehow graphics/display seems more crisp to me.

Because Microsoft didn't want to pay for licenses for each copy of Windows they sold anymore.

FINALLY I can get old DPI scaling behaviour! No more blurry fonts when using custom scaling, someone found out how to fix MS crappiness. In case you find this tool suspicious (like me), don't worry, I tested it in a isolated VM and all you need to get (proper) scaling is in the reg file attached to this post (don't forget to edit it in notepad to fit your needs).

Remember that for whatever reason, every two system reboots the OS will revert back to the new (and blurry) behaviour, so it's wise to create a scheduled task to import the reg file silently when you start your computer. Or you can just use the suspicious-looking utility (although I didn't find anything wrong with the tool I prefer the scheduled task approach, looks cleaner for me)...
