I played and beat p.n. 03 without many problems. Tried a few other games to see what I want to play. The first baten kaitos is running pretty great, pretty much "maxed" for graphics. I have a phenom II x4 945 at 3.3ghz and a radeon 4870 graphics card and I don't plan on upgrading soon, this computer is still really good for all my needs and I just don't have money. So when I try like every setting on/off, all the different backends etc and still don't get quite the framerate I need on something, could additional cpu power fix all of that? Like in most/all cases regardless of some problem the game is presenting the emulator, you guys think a faster processor would kind of just brute force the game to run at fullspeed?

Might be kind of a weird question, I'm just wondering at what point does processor speed become irrelevant and it's down to emulator code or if that never happens and you can constantly see returns ingame with better processors.

if you are out of cpu power...
use your WII to play the games...
dolphin is not a reason for a upgrade

intel i5 sandybridge k overclocked is enough for all playable games...
AMD is not the right system plattform for dolphin seeing the speed differences betweend them and intel i-cores
EDIT by neobrain: that pic was kinda annoying..
EDIT by dannzen: don't fuck with my sig Dodgy
EDIT by neobrain: yet, I will keep doing it Tongue

It's not a weird question Wink Sandybridge really changes things, as the Intel GPU is outperforming a lot of the traditional GPU systems. Switchable graphics is all the rage because of this change.

Laptops are really outselling desktops and have been for some time. The same way consoles outsell PC's for gaming...

From a software perspective: The GPU proves to be nothing but a technical nightmare for game developers, the unstable and unpredictable driver behavior, constant changes of hardware, etc.

If intel continues to invest heavily in the software development / optimization of their drivers - your question about raw speed will really be spot on. in 12 months, a 2.6Ghz i5 laptop with integrated graphics may run Dolphin really well - for $400!

Well 1:...duh, I guess. But 480p or less(gc) games look really awful on a full hdtv so I'm glad this emulator exists.
2: Right or not, this computer is over a year old before I even knew dolphin existed or that the new i5's were out, so..yeah.

To answer your thread question shortly:

Hell yeah! With my i7 2600K the FPS problems even with LLE are almost non existent.
Raw power *roar*

Good to hear, I guess, because I won't be able to upgrade for awhile heh. That's atleast like 300 dollars for motherboard+ram+cpu, all of which I would need. But yeah I kind of don't care about my wii at all anymore for how badly it can look on a 1080p tv and how good this emulator can look. Processor wasn't even on my list of what I needed to upgrade until this.
