Will a upgraded video card improve my performance

Hello, I can't seem to achieve full screen with a decent FPS. I think my video card is the bottle neck but not really sure. If a better video card will help what would be the best video card to use with Dolphin in my system?

Current Specs:
Dell Inspiron 530
Windows Vista 32 bit
4 Gig RAM DDR2
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.5 GHz

Invidia GeForce 8300 GS
128 MBytes DDR2
Driver dated 4-3-2010

Performance Test from Passmark Software gave me a over all rating of 814.6

Windows Performance Index is a 3.5 over all.
Processor 5.9
Memory 5.9
Graphics 3.5
Gaming graphics 4.4
Hard disk 5.8

I use an ATI Radeon HD 4670 on a computer with similar specs to yours and on Super Mario Galaxy i get 53 fps most of the time. So, yes the graphics card isnt the best on your computer so, try to get a more updated card. Hope this helps!

Upgraded graphics card will help. Also if possible overclock to 3.0. Your processor tops at around 3.3-3.5.

I don't think I will be able to over clock my cpu from what I have read Dell locks the bios down.

My graphic card score 6.5-6.7(depend on gfx drivers),but my CPU only 4.8 ->Windows Performance Index is 4.8 .So I can run near fullspeed or halfspeed most game

I suggest you this one : Same price, more powerful (1 Gb is pretty useless for low-end cards), DX11 support, low power consumption and should work quite fine on Dolphin. If you can afford a larger budget, I suggest you the 5770 models.

You may have to upgrade your power supply to install that GPU. Most Dell computers have very weak PSU's which can burn out if you install too many power hungry components. Considering how weak your old GPU was, i don't think your PSU is very strong. I'm not sure though.

His new video card's power consumption is very very low... I don't think it's even higher than his 8300GS's...
