Guys, I've got an old PC, it's an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.3ghz dual core, 2gb ram, my graphics card is GeForce 6150se.
Would a new graphics card help or is the CPU too rubbish to make a difference?

I'm wanting to play GameCube games, mainly NASCAR (10fps), TMNT (10fps) and Monster Jam (12fps).
The games are for the kids to play but currently unplayable (current speed in brackets).

I will have around £70 to spend including a new PSU if needed, current one is only 300W, I'm happy to keep the resolution down around 640x480 for the games.

Any help advice would be appreciated (followed some YouTube videos but cannot get the fps up to anything playable)

A new PC/CPU isn't an option as I'm limited to the money

Yes a card would help, but then you'd also need a new PSU

Happy to get a new PSU, they are only cheap, what sort of boost would I be looking at with a new card and can anyone recommend one in my budget?

A graphics card will help a bit but the change will not be much as Dolphin relies on the CPU very heavily. What I would recommend is saving up some more money to later on buy a better CPU

Don't get a new CPU without a GPU tho, that is the bottleneck here

Nothing short of replacing almost every single part of that PC will cause those games to run at acceptable speeds. No matter what settings you use. 70 pounds is no where near the amount of money you will need OP. Either get more money or give up on the idea.

This ^, you should save up more money before you plan on doing anything. Atleast until you can get a good CPU,GPU AND a good cooler (if you would like to overclock for more intensive games)

Cheers guys, new CPU is out as stated (not a matter of saving up when we have little money and kids to feed) so I guess GameCube emulation is too, thanks for the replies.
