Wiki: >50 new accounts in 2 days

I'm not sure, if this is the right place.

I have seen, that there are more than 50 new wiki accounts with an equal name scheme in the last 2 days. I'm nut sure, why they are created, but I think for vandalism or spamming. So I recommend to block all these users before they start to work.

I do notice that, I saw spamming about some "The Simpson" games´ cheat codes and other one about FIFA 14, same thing. Those guys really should be graduted in "talking bullsh*t and spamming" title. :/

I'm pretty sure our Wiki editing team is well aware that there have been spam accounts for quite a while, so they're equipped to handle the issue. Thank you for bringing this to our attention nevertheless. Our main concern is preserving the integrity of the wiki's info itself.

So far there hasn't been any spamming, just tons and tons and tons of new accounts. Obviously the wiki's spam filtering system is working on a basic level, as the goal of spam is to create accounts then post spam. Frankly this is bizzare. I guess they figured out our captcha trick in account creation but when the bots try to make a post it blocks them there. So the system is working, only partially. Yea... I'm not sure what to do about this...

Yep, wrong place. You should probably have brought this up on the wiki itself in Project:General Discussions. But that's pretty buried so I don't blame you for not noticing it. I'll bring it up there myself and have the serious discussion there. If it wasn't for that @#$^&@! football game I'd log into IRC and ask delroth and parlane about the spam filter ideas right now. >_<

Well, based in our past behavior (while the wiki was hosted in that other site) we generally start blocking user accounts only when they start spamming content. So far, none of these random accounts created recently spammed content to the wiki pages, so we didn't anything. As soon as they start (if they start) we also would start reverting the edits and banning them manually.

Our basic spam detection worked fine until now, but the spammers managed to bypass it again
