So, another reboot and the icon is no longer there. The only thing I did was reinstall the Motionjoy drivers but uninstalling them doesn't seem to help the issue. The Bluetooth install just doesn't persist after a few reboots. :/
@ the stack: I see. I won't use Toshiba unless I absolutely have no other option then. I think I'll probably just get a new dongle but I'll need to find a compatibility list for that first...

perhaps a service isn't starting? what is your OS? did you check in the device manager to see if it was working? if its just MS drivers you are using, it wouldn't make sense for it to just vanish...you could also check msconfig for startup services and see if your bluetooth is listed there, and if so, make sure it is checked to load on startup. perhaps the drivers are working and they just aren't loading on startup. Regardless, you need to know if its a problem with the bluetooth dongle itself or windows not loading the drivers. Or something else...keep posting!
