Wiimote+ "successfully" connects but doesn't work

I just got a Wiimote+ and am trying to get it to work with Dolphin. When I first tried yesterday, it actually worked perfectly with no hitches. I turned on continuous scanning, hit sync on the remote then refresh on Dolphin and two successive notifications came up from my operating system first saying that it was setting up the device, then that it was successfully connected. The lights on the remote then quit flashing and the remote worked fine for the hour that I played.

But since I closed Dolphin and came back today I have not gotten it to connect again. I follow the exact same process and I still get the OS notifications that it is successfully connected but the lights continue to flash on the remote and it does not work at all in games.

Any troubleshooting tips? I searched the forums some but could not find anything that seemed relevant to my situation.

I guess you are using the Real Wiimote setting because Windows is detecting the controller? If so, I can really recommend Bluetooth Passthrough (it disables your Bluetooth for use in Windows but it works way more stable than Real Wiimote (in my experience) and it is actually the real way a Wiimote connects to a Wii)
