Some time ago I used TP-Link 4.0 Bluetooth (BT) dongle to try Wiimote passthrough. I followed this guide https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Bluetooth_Passthrough. Connecting more than 2 motes was troublesome so I figured it was because of BT dongle.

That guide included test results for BT dongles. Based on that i got Orico BTA-403 [CSR8510]. The one I got though has Zadig tool reported as CSR8510 A10 (incidentally, TP-Link I had also shows as CSR8510 A10).

Testing I did with TP-Link was with Zadig 2.5 (that comes with libUSBK v3.0.7). This time around i used Zadig 2.7 (that comes with libUSBK v3.1.0). Quick tests showed similar behaviour to TP-Link.

So I dig some more ... then stumble on https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-orico-bta-403-or-other-bt-chip-for-passthrough ... that said test results in passthrough guide for BT-403 were only done with 2 wiimotes.

So I did some more testing. What follows is results ... which I hope might help with pinpointing the problem.

Setup:
Windows10 Version 14H1 (build 19043.1348)
Orico BTA-403 [CSR8510 A1] with VID 0A12 and PID 0001
Dolphin 5.0-15445
4x third party wiimotes (front says "NEW 2 in 1" and "Motion plus")

Most pairing/syncing was done in Wii Menu 2.0 (USA).

Note: Dolphin sometimes crash on me:

1. Launch Wii Menu (or any game) ... playing around with pairing/syncing
2. Exit Wii Menu
3. Launch any game or Wii Menu again ... and Dolphin crashes (its window dissapear)

This can happen even if I restart Dolphin after step 2. If any syncing was done successfully in Wii Menu (or any game) before crash, that syncing is lost after Dolphin crashes.

[SYNCYING]

Due to difficulty with pairing multiple motes at same time (see [PAIRING] part), when I test sync i did it one mote at a time. Once mote is sync, I turn it off and sync next one.

Interestingly, I have tough time syncing mote when I am more than 3 meters from BT dongle. But if I sync within around one meter of BT dongle, it gets sync no problem.

So in my case, if sync procedure is followed (press red button on mote behing battery cover ... wait for mote to start blinking its lights, then "press" [Sync] command in Dolphin) + i sync one mote at a time + i do it within one meter of dongle ... then sync process is painless.

[PAIRING]

With motes I got, pairing is done by pressing any button on motes (except red one behind battery cover of course).

Once sync, pairing any sync remote one at a time is a breeze ... dont need to be within "one meter" of dongle, like for sync. There are occasionally glitches when it fails to pair, but usually second pairing attempt gets it paired.

If pairing 2 motes "simultaneously" (start pairing at same time or pairing second mote while first one is still pairing) the success rate is very vert high. However, if one mote gets paired first, the other one will have tough time pairing. It is actually easier to unpair connected mote, and try pairing them "simultaneously" again.

Pairing more than 2 motes is tough.

My observation seems to indicate that once one mote is paired, it gets progressively harder to pair next one.

Pairing "simultaneously" seems to do trick ... but its very hard to do for 3 motes ... and nearly impossible for 4 motes. Most of the time, if I try to pair multiple motes "simultaneously" - only 2 gets paired, then i just sit around and try to pair 3rd and 4th one.

I eventually can get all 4 motes paired (if I am lucky or spend long enough).

Once paired, motes have no problem playng games (rumble, speaker, motion sensing works)

EDIT: after test ... i connected TP-Link BT dongle and it works as normal Microsoft Stack BT while Oricon works as libUSBK
