I bought a 3rd party wii remote plus from dealextreme. It is recognized as RVN-CRT-01 and it does pair up and Dolphin connects to it. The first player light gets on, but when trying to play a game, it doesn't work. I tried using it in Ubuntu and Windows 7 and in none of them it works.

I was testing it in Ubuntu and it does recognize the Wiimote and set it as player 1. But when I load a game, none of the buttons work nor the motion controls. I noticed that after sometime Dolphin will say it's disconnected, pressing alt+F5 makes it connected again but after some time it will just disconnect itself.

3rd party remotes are notoriously unreliable with Dolphin, but that's not to say it's definitely your problem. Can you possibly get your hands on an official wiimote in order to test?

I've found a workaround that can be used in Ubuntu. There's a software called Wiican, it maps wiimote buttons, accelerometers, infrared and possibly other functions as a mouse or gamepad. You can set the accelerometeres and infrared as analog axis and map the buttons. Then when cofiguring the controller in Dolphin you set it to use emulated wiimote and configure it to use the "Wiimote gamepad". I wonder if there is a similar program for Windows.

It may be better to post a screenshot of your controller config (where you tell it that it is a real Wiimote etc.) or to try setting alternate Wiimote timing. If they work I'm sure that they'll be at least marginally more playable with.
