Wiimote not found by computer

I recently bought a brand name wiimote with built in motion plus. I have tired to connect it to my PC with a bluetooth dongle and my laptop with built-in bluetooth. Neither of them can discover the wiimote. I have tried hitting the red sync button and the 1 & 2 buttons on the wiimote simultaneously. I have also tried this with toshiba stack. I know it is not my dongle because it has found and connected to my other devices. Is there anything else I can try or is my wiimote defective?

Thanks and sorry if this has been addressed in another thread but I couldn't find anything similar by searching.

Maybe. Maybe not. We've already seen Wiimotes that weren't recognized whereas other devices were. What model is it?

Another possibility: Your Wiimote is a fake and you've been fooled by Amazon Tongue

Its a generic one dollar dongle. But my laptop has built in bluetooth. It's possible that its fake but they would have spent more money making it look legit then I actually paid for it.

So should I send my wiimote back for a refund?

Don't rely on that. Built-in adapters are craps.

Some fake Wiimotes are very similar to original ones. It's almost impossible to recognize them.

If I were you I'd try another dongle

A dongle? To give you an idea here's mine. Pretty cheap but works just fine
