wiimote + motion plus buttons work in games but no movements

so.. i just dropped some money on sports resort and the wii motion plus mote. i have been in my room for about 8 hours trying to get it to work. i have scoured the forums etc. my d pad and a button work on the mote... however, no motion sensors seem to do anything. i cant get past the opening screen on sports resort because i have to click okay... and i have no way of doing that... i am moving my mote all around and i never get a cursor. with mario kart wii, i normally have a cursor to control with my mouse. now, when i load it with the wii mote, i have no cursor and again none of the sensors seem to work. am i missing something? is there something else i have to do to get the motion part working?

no... lol. after reading 1 million tutorials on how to get the wiimote to work... not a single one mentioned the need for a sensor bar. i am using 2 candles now and it works great =D
