Since none of the threads that my search showed gave an actual answer to my problem I'm starting a new thread for it.

I have the latest version of Dolphin as of this post and a new Wii motion plus wiimote. When I start a game after pairing the wiimote to Dolphin everything seems fine and then I get to the "attach the nunchuck" screen Dolphin doesn't seem to realize the nunchuck is attached. When I go to remove and reattach it the controller disconnects. I hit alt F5 to reconnect it and it essentially gets stuck and the controller remains unresponsive. Any thoughts?

Sorry didn't realize it was in the wrong forum. That said I'm still not sure how to fix this problem. It refuses to stay connected and if and when it does it won't get past the "attach nunchuck" screen.

Solved!!!
I was having the same problem, i tried everything...
The normal procedure you must follow to have your wiimote in your game
1.- Connect USB Bluetooth 2.0 Dongle to a free USB port on your PC
2.- Ensure your pc recognizes it and put all drivers for your bluetooth
3.- Go to system tray bar and rigth click on bluetooth icon then choose add new blue tooth device option
4.- The stack is going to wait till you press 1+2 buttons at the same time (this is going to be slowly) or you can press the sync button inside your wiimote (this is better)
5.- Once the stack recognizes it you must choose THIS device doesnt need a code ... wait till all drivers are ok
The end stuff
6. Go to Dolphin
7.- In menu bar choose options, wiimote setup and then in wiimote 1: choose wiimote real and then click on update button, if you did it well then your wiimote it's going to vibrate... if not, close dolphin and start over from step 1
8.- Add your game to Dolphin game list (go to file, search for iso...)
9.- Right click on your game and choose properties (make sure you're in dolphin and not inside the open window)
10.- look for a properti like alternative wiimote syncronization and click this till a check symbol appears there
11.- That's it

If this doesn't work for you please let me know and I will help you

couple of problems: One I'm not using a bluetooth dongle, I'm using my built in bluetooth adapter which is an Atheros AR9002, secondly there is no such secondary sync option in the current version of dolphin. My comp recognizes the wii-mote but fails to stay connected to it when I enter a game, and the nunchuck isn't recognised.

I think you're not following the steps I wrote above, and indeed there's a sync option, please follow steps and just ignore the part when connection the dongle...

the key point is to add your game to dolphin game list and when the game is there just right click on it an choose properties ...
