WiiMote connects but doesn't work in game

So I've tried multiple remotes on this setup and I keep having strange issues.

I have a legit Wiimote that will connect to windows fire but will not for the life of it be recognized in Dolphin. I've already double checked and made sure it's not a plus remote. It's still not.

I have a random Nyko remote that connects to windows fine and even buzzes in the wiimote menu like its connecting fine but when you try to launch a game none of the buttons don't seem to do anything.

I've tried looking through all the documentation I could find but it all seems to be from an older version of dolphin or something has changed.

I have no idea what to do.

I'm using the latest version of Dolphin according to the website.

According to your profile, you're only using the latest stable version. You should use the latest development version.
