Since no controller/mouse/keyboard work (phones work by themselves so it's different) I guess the issue comes from your system itself.
Are you sure you have no inbuilt adapter or such? How is your dongle recognized by your system (Devices manager/Bluetooth)?
Also you should list your specs. It's needed in some cases Big Grin

16 gigabytes of ram, 64bit Windows 7 installed, an Nvidia 660Ti graphics card, gigabyte motherboard (not sure which, but fairly new) and an Intel Core i7-3770k @ 3.50GHz

I don't really know specs so well, just grabbed what I could, hope it's enough.

And no, my PC has no in built Bluetooth. I put the Hama in, inserted the disc, installed it, and it shows up under the Hardware manager. There's it's icon in task tray. Click add new connection, turn on my mouse/keyboard/wiimote (only the Wiimote has a specific synch button) and nothing happens.

However, it finds my Blackberry just fine o.O

Which disc? You shouldn't need any disc. I suppose you mean the disc with BlueSoleil. Don't use that. Your drivers are not on this disc.

You're gonna do this:
1- Unplug your adapter and uninstall BlueSoleil
2- Uninstall Toshiba stack if it's still on your system
3- Now no BT adapter should appear. No BT stack either. Make sure of that
4- Don't plug your dongle. Re-install Toshiba stack
5- While it's being installed you should be asked to plug your adapter. Do it
6- When installation is off (you might be asked to restart your system) an icon will appear in task tray
7- Click on the icon. Try to add a new connection. And if there's something to detect it's now Big Grin

It says "The Operating System is not adequet. I assume that means it's x32 instead of x64? Will go ahead and see if I can find and install x64.

Yep you probably got a 32-bit version of Toshiba stack.

Btw your profile says Windows x86

I did as you said. Removed my stacks, reinstalled Toshiba, connected the Dongle when it asked, restarted.

Still nothing. Tried the synch button on my wiimote, and the power button on my mouse. Nothing detected.

Is it common to have this much difficulty? :/

No. You're an exception.
I'm joking of course Smile . But you're probably doing something wrong at some point. The fact that nothing at all is detected is really weird.

You could try to install Microsoft stack (make sure it isn't on your sytem yet). It should at least find your keyboard and mouse

While I search (it's taking a while to track down) is it anything to do with Windows 7? Googling, I'm seeing a lot of grumbling about bluetooth not working with it.

Microsofts website doesn't even list stacks for Windows 7, so I tried Bluesoleil. Negative on that one to.

I'm tempted to just give up and buy a Wii.

Well in last resort don't forget you can use a gamepad (or even a keyboard but I don't recommend you this). This isn't the best deal for Wii games. Some moves being really difficult to realize without a Wiimote. But it's a solution.
And you can play GC games too. Here no problem with gamepads
