This is off-topic, but how exactly does the Gamepad make this work? You can point a Wiimote at the Wii U's Gamepad and it works just like a sensor bar, but I don't see any obvious IR lights on it.
Wiii sensor equivalent?

They're not always noticeable because AFAIK the Game Pad turn those IR LEDs on only while you're playing a Wii (or Wii U) game with a Wiimote in off-TV play mode, otherwise the IR LEDs remain powered off...
