hey guys i need help ! im trying to run XBC Smoothy but i dont work ! my specs are : I7-4810MQ 2.8 GHz Quad Core Turboboost : 3.8 , 16 GB of RAM , NVIDIA GTX 880M 8gb . i try everything but the FPS always go under 30 most of the time its @ 13-25 FPS . sorry for my bad english ^^ Thank you for helping .

For my part, I've noticed that some of the time my FPS drops without my VPS dropping. Is there anything in particular that could cause that?

StripTheSoul: I understand that people just want something that runs their game smoothly and that it may not have any noticeable issues in this game, but we killed off DX9 for dozens of good reasons and I hate seeing people still using it, especially since they can encounter plenty of issues in other games due to Tino doing a load of dumb stuff without any advice from the rest of the team.

Vorkhan: Those happen on real console too. You can probably fix them with a certain option in Dolphin, but Shonumi's general advice is to not try to do that – the game's timing-related code usually doesn't respond well to things not acting like a real console, so trying to fix any of it with any sort of hack or even just changing the framelimiter options usually results in three more problems cropping up.

@pauldacheez: That's why it's explicitly unofficial (which I always add). I understand that it's kinda 'dirty' from a developer's perspective but actually I've not encountered any issues I haven't also had with master build, or if so, I reported it and Tino always fixed it. This has been discussed a lot of times already, so like I said, I'm not telling everyone to use DX9; it's only for those who have an old machine and just wouldn't be able to use Dolphin in an enjoyable way without this alternative.

@ joujin90 & Vorkhan: There must be something wrong either with your computer or your Dolphin settings because even I - with my old machine - can play this game @fullspeed (except for those damned shader cache stutters for which there doesn't seem to be a real remedy, emulation-wise). If you haven't fiddled around too much with the default settings you shouldn't have any slowdowns with a modern machine.

What characterises the shader cache stutters? Because it's theoretically possible that might be what I'm experiencing, I suppose, though it doesn't explain the sound issues. I'm going to test again with LLE to see whether that solves that problem, though.

Well, are your performance problems going over several seconds/minutes when in a specific place or in a big fight or something? Or are they just short stutters, not even half a second but still pretty annoying? And are they mostly happening when entering a new area or seeing effects for the first time? The latter would indicate shader cache stutters.
Also, always when the speed goes below fullspeed the sound will suffer as well. So if your sound issues only come with performance issues then there's not really anything wrong with your sound itself.

Try turning off the OpenMP Texture Decoder; that sometimes messes up my performance in games.

Also check "Skip EFB Access from CPU". And Cache Display Lists and Fast Depth Calculation didn't hurt me in this game. However, why are you using an old version of Dolphin? Get a recent one here: https://de.dolphin-emu.org/download/list/master/1/
