Hello I'm new to all of this so sorry if I do something wrong and whatnot. Anyway on to the question. I'm not really having problems with the xenoblade itself really. What I wanted to ask is if this game or dolphin itself takes up ram. By that I mean when I'm playing the game my ram usage starts about 3.2something gigs used(i have a total of 8) and a about an hour it'll go up to around 4 something. Yesterday I was playing for maybe 3 hours and it was as high as 7.5 gigs being used. Closing dolphin solves the issue. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed that or if its a sign i'm doing doing something I shouldn't have. Thank you for your time.

Huh I have only 2 Gigs of RAM and can play Xenoblade (even with hi res textures) for hours without issues...

Hmm, sounds like a memory leak. There are a few on google code... What is your dolphin revision and what graphics backend are you using?

The development version I use is 4.0-1816 and stable version 4.0.2. It does seem to do it with both and It didn't even occur to me that I might have a memory leak because it only seems to happen when I'm using those. I'll have to try and google to see what might cause memory leaks because this is a first for me. [quote='Brutes158' pid='327048' dateline='1402422924'] woops forgot this. I use OpenGl for both and can use Direct3D for both. I switched to open because I thought direct was causing the issue but it doesn't it for whatever my backend is. 06-11-2014, 04:14 AM

I'm deathly afraid of jinxing everything, but I've played about 4 hours today without a crash! Thanks so much! I deleted the contents of my ShaderCache folder as my first step, and everything has been stable so far this morning. Haven't messed with my overclock. Out of curiosity, what is it about that ShaderCache folder that could have possibly fixed things for me? One other thing that is different about today compared to my previous, very crash-prone sessions, is that I'm using my regular desktop speakers instead of my Logitech G950 headphones. No idea if that could possibly have anything to do with anything, but figured I'd throw that out there. I'm afraid to try using them again. 06-11-2014, 09:39 AM
The ShaderCache probably contained a shader compiled by an older version of Dolphin that does not work in the newer version. It might also be a corrupt shader.
I don't think the headphones/desktop speakers would make a difference.
hey guys I have a question. I stopped playing emulators for about 2 years. I have the same system as before and I decided to play again.
I'm currently using a custom patched Dolphin for Xenoblade. the version is HLE patch [HEAD] 3.0-845-dirty. it works fine with custom textures, haven't encountered any bugs. My question is, Do i need to update my dolphin version? BTW im using a 2500k (stock) + 5850 + 8gb DDR3 06-12-2014, 07:23 PM
Well, if everything works fine, why should you change anything?
That said, there have been a lot of improvements with Dolphin (e.g. sound is now perfect as long as you don't go below fullspeed) and if you could play it well back then you should also be able to play it with a recent version. [I'm playing the game with Tino's DX9 build, but that's because my PC is too old to be able to play the game at full speed with a master build.]

Here's an obvious improvement: you won't need that crazy sound patch anymore, or the problems it creates. And your CPU is good enough to handle Xenoblade for sure. Try the latest dev builds out! If you don't like them, you can always go back to the old one. It's not going anywhere.

Anyone having the game turn extremely dark when approaching hazzai cape? So far the game's been running smoothly at 100% and 30fps for me. So I don't know why it happens. Is it because of my video backend?
