Shit

I should invest in a gamer PC

Thx anyway

Whatever you get, make sure it's an Intel cpu, i5 or better. They run dolphin much better than AMD right now, and this is important as dolphin is a VERY cpu-intensive app.

Hi, Do I have to overclock my I5 3570K to maintain 30FPS? Because when I start a battle the framerate drops to 20-21FPS no matter what Graphics settings I have.

Sorry for my bad English Big Grin

I left the game idle for a few minutes and now it's stuck at the "communications with the wii remote have been interrupted" message, it won't go away no matter what buttons I press. I'm using a 360 controller if that helps

press ALT + F5, or look through the popdown menus, there is also an option to reconnect the wii remote.

Hi Everyone,

So I got really sick and tired of digging through the forum in order to find the optimal settings for running Xenoblade Chronicles. After piecing the puzzle together, I was able to come up with some pretty good settings for running the game at practically full HD. I wanted to save newcomers the blood, sweat, and tears by posting my current settings for the game. These settings are used for Dolphin 4.0.2. I also applied the 30 fps patch to the game. The following attachments are my settings.

Also, I DID NOT overclock my GPU or CPU to achieve optimal performance. I found there to be little (none really) difference in overclocking my GPU. The following settings have optimized the performance of the game for me. The shuttering effect (AKA drop in FPS from 30) from entering high-detailed areas, battles, and videos have, thus far, been almost unnoticeable. I'm testing these settings on the Bionis Leg. This area has a lot of depth and detail which leads me to believe that the settings I have are proving to be among the best due to little or shuttering.

PLEASE... If anyone feels they have more to add, feel free to comment.

Thanks!

Hm, I'm playing the game on my old machine with 3x internal resolution (but no AA) and plus Hi-res textures (the DDS version: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-hd-texture-project-xenoblade-chronicles-v4-5u-mar-14-2014 ) in full speed except for short loading hiccups happening when entering new areas 'n stuff and in intense battles my FPS can go down to 28-29. Other than that and sometimes missing body parts (they're back when restarting the game) everything seems to be perfect and the game is very enjoyable Smile
For that performance with such an old machine you'll need Tino's DX9-build, though. Just pick the most recent x64 one: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-testing-needed-dx9-final

Do keep in mind, however, that it's an unofficial build and you won't get any support in the forums except for in that thread. It's just for those struggling to get the game to play at an enjoyable speed.

@MrTDat: I would also check the following boxes in your graphics configuration: "Skip EFB Access From CPU", "Cache Display Lists" and "OpenMP Texture Encoder". At least that's what I'm playing with.
Intel i5-4690k (Devil's Canyon) @ 3.5 GHz (+Scythe Mugen) / Gainward GTX 1070 Phoenix (OC'd) / ASUS Z97 PRO GAMER / 16GB G.Skill DDR3-2400 CL10 TridentX / X-Fi XtremeMusic / Win10 Pro 64bit / Dell S2716DG Monitor / 3x original WiiMote+MotionPlus+Nunchuk

Yo, a Haswell i5/i7 shouldn't be using DX9 Final; you should use the latest dev versions, and the OpenGL backend, as it's a lot smoother in this game. The stutterings will happen as the shader cache is built, but will stop happening as you play the game more and more. OpenMP Texture Encoder is almost never faster and doesn't affect this game.

HI guys, just wondering if someone can help me, my game seems to stay around 28-30 fps but the audio is terrible and very laggy. I've tried following other guides online but nothing is seeming to help

specs:

video card: GTX 670
Ram: G.skill Ripjaw X Series 16GB
Processor: AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz APU
OS: Win8.1

Dolphin version 4.0.2
General
Enable Dual Core
Enable Idle Skipping
Advanced
JIT Recompiler (recommended)

Audio
DSP HLE Emulation (fast)
DSPLLE on Sepreate Thread
Backend
DSound

Graphics

General
Backend-Direct3D9 (3D11 won't work for me)
Show FPS
Hide Mouse Cursor

Enhancements
Internal Res: 1x
Anti Alias: None
Anisotropic: 1x

Hacks

Embeded Frame Buffer
Ignore Format Changes

EFB Copies
RAM
Enable Cache

Texture Cache- Fast

External Frame Buffer-Disable

Other
Fast Depth Calculation

Hope I gave enough info :L This is the first game I've really had any trouble running.

Try a current development build, they're faster. https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ Also leave EFB Copies on Texture. IIRC, this game doesn't really need it, and it slows things down quite a bit.

FYI, the D3D9 backend has been removed after 4.0.2 (for numerous very good reasons), so you may want to pay attention to whichever of the other two you're using. Performance varies between D3D(11) and OpenGL depending on the game and your GPU.
