could it be related to this???

Hi all, got a really frustrating problem... I've gotten through pretty much the entire game with no trouble whatsoever up until this point, but it's driving me mad what's happening now. This game is the worst thing in existence of anyone with any sort of compulsion about them, so for this to happen after 150 hours is killing me!
Basically, Avalanche Abaasy won't spawn at Valak Mountain. I know the thing only spawns in blizzards (we met already - he destroyed me) but, now that I'm ready to hand it to him, blizzards aren't loading. I can hear the howling of the wind in the background but the on-screen graphics don't reflect that. I'm thinking this must be the reason he isn't spawning. Any suggestions? I've spent hours and hours preparing for this battle - never tried him first time round, and he's the only thing I've got left to do. He was spawning before when I wasn't trying to meet him and I've not advanced the plot since then either. Help MUCH appreciated. ![]() Edit: Oh, I'm using Dolphin 3.0 845 dirty if that's of any help. I tried 3.5-1154 too and had the same problem. 08-09-2013, 03:04 AM
Hmm, I use 3.5-1158 and no problems here getting him to spawn. Once you get a blizzard, make sure it's at night, warp to 3 sage summit, then run up the hill to the middle of the plateau up there. He doesn't show up until you run up there.
It's weird. I just don't seem to be able to get a blizzard at all. I've left it on for hours now, I hope it's just me being a retard and doing something wrong (which is quite possible). Do you have to enter and re-enter or something to trigger it?
This has genuinely been such a flawless emulation experience so far so maybe it's just me. I remember it taking a while to get fog at Satorl Marsh but that was nothing in comparison to this, though! 08-09-2013, 05:32 AM
Ahh, there is clearly some sort of problem. I've gone through a load of downloadable save files and the only one so far that has worked is one that clocks at about 20 hours under what I've put into it. I don't know whether it's co-incidence but all the new game + ones and others with similar or more time on the clock to my file do not spawn blizzards/Avalanche Abaasy. I would try out the one that's working but it would involve getting all the gems again, at which point this same problem may happen once more. So frustrating!
For the one having the blizzard issue in valak... instead of "leaving it on for hours", i really suggest you change hours REALLY fast... i once had to do it about 20-40times (go from 6, to noon, to 18 to midnight, repeat)... some thunderstorm, blizzard and fog took quite a while, but you should be able to get a blizzard that way much faster than waiting!
![]() as for the one who said "could it be related to that weird 1h30 audio bug" ... if you were talking about my "freezing" issue... definitely not... as it can happen as fast as 10mins after a full reboot... i tried both hle and lle... for graphix i mostly stick to dx9 (dx11 seemed more stable but slower and did not support custom textures) . i also tried without the textures with and without fast depth and open mp texture decoder... EDIT : Today (right after writing this) i decided to keep searching the forums... eventually i found the page with all the builds... decided to check if there was a more recent than mine and upgraded from 3.5-15xx to 1725... well we played a solid 2h after this and NOT A SINGLE FREEZE! Lets just say i am very happy and hopefully it will stay that way! hehe...
Ha, you brilliant person firehawkx.
Turns out I am a massive idiot - that worked almost immediately. I always assumed that turning the clock didn't actually change the weather because you could turn it forward to night without it ever changing. Worked very quickly though, thanks! After all that, I actually think Blizzard Belgazas and Avalanche Abaasy were the easiest for my party (Shulk, Reyn and Sharla) out of the superbosses. Granted that it was chaos at one point trying to deal with AA, Final Marcus and another Slobos that decided to have a pop (taking the fight into the morning!), but they were both a lot less dangerous/annoying in isolation than the mad rabbit and, in particular Ancient Daedala. Ancient Daedala was the one that really had me on my toes with his repeated special attacks, where as Reyn basically couldn't hit the mad rabbit, meaning that I ended up in the bizarre situation of having Sharla as my main damage taker! Went on and completed this in the end again and the ending still strikes as a bit...extravagant...but it's a hell of a game. It's a pity about some of the voice acting/characters and the loose storytelling in the second half of the game, but what a game this really is. If Monolith Soft takes inspiration from some of the characters (and character development) from FF7 and get the voice acting to at least FFX standard (barring the mental Yuna/Tidus at Luca scene), then X could well be the best JRPG ever made. They seriously need to get this trio on the soundtrack again too - there's a lot of praise (and rightly so) for ACE+, but Manami Kiyota stole the show here in my opinion. Her area themes along with the general atmosphere and emotion of other tracks blew me away. Says a lot when Yoko Shimomura helps to score an album with two others composers that make even better contributions than she does! One final thing, thank you to the Dolphin developers for this brilliant emulator. The difference in higher resolutions is absolutely enormous and, even though it's an amazing game in its own right, it is a far better experience on Dolphin than on the Wii.

Well thank you for the nice comments! (and great review of the game)! I would also like to extend my thanks to the many creators of dolphin... as well as thoses taking the time for the awesome HD texture packs for this game! I completely agree with you that this is one of the most impressive JRPG out there and definitely one to remember! and X might now be the motivation to get a wii-u when it comes out!
As for the superbosses goes, i was wondering if you abused save states as much as i do when you had troubles... for example, when i start a link chain, i use my first 3 attacks, then quicksave (left thumbstick), use the 3rd attack, get a perfect circle 4th combo, if i miss, i'll quickload (right thumbstick), when i get it i save again, and can keep a X5Max chain going for 10-12 attacks... going from 5x red skills, then using a monado or middle (white) skill to change color, then doing max chain for a while switching color as much as i can... doing upward of 600,000k damage in a single combo... -- SO, were you doing that and still had trouble? or were you a bit more legit than I am? hehe...

Do I have to enable the new AX-HLE or is automatically enabled when I select HLE?
I'm messing around with settings and have gotten the fps pretty stable but still get crackling, especially in the controllable scenes in the intro. |
