Is sound issue stil valid? I'm playing on 3.5 r1875 x64 with HLE sound and default sattings for a few days and no problem so far (i'm at Colony 6 at the moment). It seems that this game doesn't like when it can't obtain full fps.

Sound issues are almost fixed with recent builds (with HLE).

If you can't get full-speed the sound will stutter. But it's true for any other game

I am also having some trouble getting this game to even run at decent quality. I have checked out a handful of forums and read dozens of posts. Nothing I have tried is helping my quality. All combinations of dx9/11/GL + HLE/LLE + my dsp/dolphin free dsp + DSound/Xaudio2/OpenAL have failed to adequately preform.p

Operating System: Win7x86
Processor/CPU: Intel i7 950/3.07GHz
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GTX 460
Memory/RAM: Ballstix 14gb
Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 3.5 and multiple 3.5-x

My best performance was obtained with these settings. Even running at these settings, fps drops to below 20 during combat and some cut scenes. Also rarely drops to below 10fps. Standing idle sometimes only runs at 26-28fps. On average game play is at 20-25fps most of the time with constant shuddering. Disabling my 2nd monitor only increased fps by 3-5. Checking patrician integrity came back clean and a redump of the game did not help. GPU and CPU temperatures were in the green during all stages of testing. I have nothing overclocked and all voltages are at expected values. I am really at a loss at what could possibly be wrong, please post some feedback and suggestions if you have the time.

Set your frame limit to 30 for NTSC or 25 for PAL versions. This setting was responsible for a number of my FPS drops. Also, try using Texture instead of RAM for EFB Copies. It only makes a difference in some instances (like the ether deposits' glow).

I don't understand how changing fps limit from audio limit to 30 made just a massive improvement. That just took me from 2x native up to 4x native with 4xaa and 8xA. Better yet, if I turn AA off I can even run Tephra Cave with limited issues. This is the first time in years I ever had this much trouble getting optimized settings. I was getting extremely frustrated, thank you so much for the help!

No problem. This is one of the few games that seems to be fairly picky about the framelimit. Forcing it to the game's native FPS works wonders; perhaps XBC has some tight timing in the game's code. I remember playing this game initially and getting the same disappointing results you had, even when I overclocked. Enjoy the game, it's a long, good one Smile

Ran into a problem with AoE damage now. If I hit 6-8+ targets with an AoE attack sometimes fps drops to 5~9 or even completely freezes as it calculates damage and nothing I do helps unless I go back to really low settings again. This is disappointing since my specs are pretty good and other people seem to be running this game with settings superior to mine with lower specs.

You probably need to overclock your CPU. 3.07 GHz is rather low for this game, especially on older generations of i7s.

Yea I guess getting the i7 was a bad idea. Would rather of had an i5 at this point. 8cores via hyperthreading is worthless since almost no software properly supports it at the moment.

It's not that the i7's are bad, it's just that the older generations have lower single-threaded IPC than Sandy Bridges or Ivy Bridges. 3 GHz on an Sandy or Ivy Bridge would probably have some trouble running Xenoblade Chronicles, probably not the entire game, but some points wouldn't be fullspeed here and there. Given that, an older i7 will need to overclock past 3 GHz.
