I have a few questions. My laptop recommended resolution is 1366x768, I'm using the latest dev build with the HD textures but the text and menu or maybe everything looks a bit blurry or with small jaggedness. I'm not sure what to do to fix that, it doesn't look like the HD texture screenshots where the text and menu look all nice and smooth. What resolution/aspect ratio/internal resolution am I supposed to be using so that the text/menu/game graphics don't look sort of blurry/jagged? I tried different options but some areas still look a bit blurry/jagged like the text or menu graphics behind the text.
Also it seems like some textures don't appear? The faces and clothes seem to work but maybe other textures are not appearing like the controller buttons (I'm using the PS3 button textures) only 1 PS3 button texture shows but the rest are still Wii buttons. I'm not using any optional textures, just the default custom textures and the controller/tutorial textures. I'm not sure why my game doesn't look as smooth as the HD texture screenshots do, not sure if I'm supposed to be using certain settings that I'm not using?

Much appreciated

Downloading games is against thd forum rules. Asking where to find them is also against the forum rules.

The textures still don't seem to be loading completely. I don't know what is wrong. I followed the video tutorial. The instructions say to use the latest development version. I have load custom textures checked. I put the textures under the correct folder path, I believe anyway. I have the correct game id.

Something I noticed though is that for example in the video tutorial, the person has "Dolphin Emulator" in their documents but for me, I only have a "Dolphin Emulator" folder appear if I install the stable 4.0.2 version BUT the HD textures instructions say to use the latest development build BUT when I download the latest development build, it's just a folder called Dolphin x64 and I put the custom textures under the load/textures/game id under that Dolphin x64 folder path, is that what I'm doing wrong? Am I supposed to have version 4.0.2 installed AND the development version installed also? Am I supposed to put the texture files under the "Dolphin Emulator" path folder that the version 4.0.2 creates? Then what is the point of using the development version then if I still have to put the texture files in the folder that version 4.0.2 creates? I don't get it. This is very frustrating because it should be easy but I'm having trouble with this.

My question is, the HD textures require the latest development build so am I supposed to ALSO install the stable version 4.0.2 or not? And when I download the latest development version, the folder name is called Dolphin x64 but it seems like everyone else is using a folder called "Dolphin Emulator" and not a folder called "Dolphin x64". I don't get it. Am I supposed to re-name the "Dolphin x64" folder as "Dolphin Emulator" to make the textures work? So far only the face, clothes, menu backgrounds, startup screen textures work but all the other textures don't seem to be working. I also have the texture cache thing set to safe as the video instructions say.

You should follow this thread to get support in loading the textures:

https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-xenoblade-chronicles-hd-texture-pack-v6-1-febuary-9-2015

Also, the stable release will not work and it's pretty much outdated. There is no reason to use the 4.0.2 stable release at this point. And don't worry about renaming the folder, the texture will work no matter how the folder is called.

I do recommend you to wait a bit longer before playing the game with the texture, at this moment the developers are trying to fix the stuttering with the textures and in a few more days the texture will get updated and a new Dolphin build will be available to use the texture with no issue, so for now just wait a couple more days to see what's going to happen.

Thanks for the answer. I deleted/uninstalled everything and re-downloaded everything and tried again and I think it's sort of working now. And the reason why the controller textures weren't working for me, I found out that it was because I was using the emulated wii remote/emulated nunchuk instead of the classic controller setup in the extension drop down and that seemed to have fixed that.

I guess because in the read me's and video tutorials, I keep seeing people putting things under the folder "Dolphin Emulator" which I noticed version 4.0.2 creates automatically while the developer versions didn't seem to so that confused me. I wasn't sure if the developer build is standalone or if you were supposed to use it alongside version 4.0.2. I know for the textures the latest dev build is required but I couldn't see a "Dolphin Emulator" folder anywhere unless the 4.0.2 created it. I guess the dev build is standalone then?

Also, I did check the main page of that texture thread and the last recent ones, I was under the impression that the texture thread was only for people actively contributing to the texture pack so I wasn't sure about posting there but thanks again for explaining.

I haven't had any stuttering problems so far but when I use OpenGL it always crashes the emulator when I start the game so I have to use Direct3D with Intel HD Graphics 4600 instead. I think the textures are working now but my game still looks horrendously low quality. I still have a long way to go to figuring this all out.  Confused

That's because you need to increase the internal resolution of the emulator to a higher value.

Graphics > Enhancements > Internal Resolution

"4x Native (2560x2112)" will give you the best quality but i don't recommend you to use it because your GPU is weak, you need a dedicated GPU to handle resolutions that high. "2x Native (1280x1056)" will still look good so if your GPU can handle it then go for that one.

That solved it! No wonder I was not having slow downs/stuttering problems because my internal resolution was so low. It looks a lot better now, my crappy laptop seems to play it okay at 1.5x at least! At least it looks a lot better than before. I'll definitely keep an eye on the future updates, thank you for your help and for letting me know, I appreciate it!

Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I figured I'd try the official thread before the support board. I recently purchased a new PC and should be able to run Dolphin smoothly, but I've been running into some issues. Particularly with this game and Other M.

With xenoblade, everything runs decently...until I enter combat. It doesn't matter where I am, so long as I initiate combat, the game chugs. Any recommendations? Not sure if there's an optimized build or whatever , but it makes no sense to me that I'm encountering these problems, given my build.

@ DylanEno: You cannot compare PC games to emulators.
Anyway, your PC should be able to run Xenoblade smoothly, indeed. If with 'chugs' you mean it stutters, then that's the shader cache stutters which happen even on the most high-end PC and there's no 'cure' for it yet in Dolphin proper. Most of these stutters should go away the second time you play the game (or rather when you see effects which you've seen before, thus the shaders have already been cached).
If the stutters really annoy you, you could also try Ishiiruka ( https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-ishiiruka-dolphin-custom-version ); just keep in mind that it's an unofficial build, so only ask for support in the Ishiiruka thread. Its Async Shader Cache Generation gets rid of the stuttering (on your first play of the game there might be pop-ups or, in rare cases, graphics glitches; shouldn't happen on the second play anymore, though).

Hmm, okay. Yeah, it seemed pretty bad and didn't seem to be going away as it " got used" to the effects, but I'll try giving it a go again and see if I can't get it work. Otherwise, I'll try the link you provided. Thanks for the help! =)
