Is a lot of discussion on this... one guy that did 3D modeling in maya said it's just no way even real polygonal (the irony). While I agree it looks pretty real, I'm not to sure how they got a camera in all directions flying through the streets; unless they patched it together from multiple cameras, and it just doesn't look smooth if you inspect it closely. So I was thinking maybe it's just pre rendered in a spherical video format, however that seems kinda hard to pull of, switching the feed area... what do you think (or know, preferably)

How the hell are you supposed to tell from from a video of someone filming the display? It's impossible to make a good comparison from that video quality. From what I can see the building in the background definitely does not look real (it looks like the side is a flat textured surface). Like most tech demos the scene is optimized to maintain a high level of detail in the nearby objects like the cars and draw your attention away from the distant stuff.

This doesn't seem that difficult to implement. The controller has a gyroscope, all you need to do is use the gyroscope position to set the camera angle. And this visual quality is certainly nothing super impressive given that its a tech demo, hell did you see the zelda tech demo!?!? If nintendo can produce a good zelda game with that image quality they can have all of my money.

Keep in mind also that the wii U might support tessellation and displacement mapping for all we know.
