Today, my friend and I had trouble playing together on netplay. With me using the Wii U GC adapter and my friend using another controller (DS3), we found that we kept desyncing, even though we have the same config settings and have disabled memory cards. We have spent about an hour with different controller configurations and two different games.
Everything that we have tried has been on Dolphin 4.0-5222.
Kirby Air Ride
(Config/General) DualCore ON
(Controllers/GameCube Adapter) Direct Connect ON/Use Thread ON
Result: Desync, unresponsive controls for the GC controller (tapped buttons would act like they were held in-game)
(Config/General) DualCore ON
(Controllers/GameCube Adapter) Direct Connect ON/Use Thread OFF
Result: Crash soon after starting game, no indication for why it would've crashed
We turned off DualCore just in case.
(Config/General) DualCore OFF
(Controllers/GameCube Adapter) Direct Connect ON/Use Thread ON
Result: Desync, unresponsive controls for the GC controller (tapped buttons would act like they were held in-game)
(Config/General) DualCore OFF
(Controllers/GameCube Adapter) Direct Connect ON/Use Thread OFF
Result: Crash soon after starting game, no indication for why it would've crashed
This is when we thought it was a controller issue. However, we decided to try another game we had played successfully over netplay.
Bomberman Generation
(Config/General) DualCore OFF
(Controllers/GameCube Adapter) Direct Connect ON/Use Thread ON
Result: Desync. Controls were responsive on my end, unlike with Kirby Air Ride
(Config/General) DualCore OFF
(Controllers/GameCube Adapter) Direct Connect ON/Use Thread OFF
Result: Desync, random crashes.
At this point, I tried using my 360 controller just to make sure that it was not just a problem with netplay.
(Config/General) DualCore OFF
(Controllers/GameCube Adapter) Direct Connect OFF/Use Thread OFF
Unplugged GC controller from the adapter.
Result: Synced. Played perfectly.
It's late here, so we are done troubleshooting for the night, but he's getting his own GC adapter tomorrow. When he gets it, we are gonna see how netplay works with both players using GC adapters. Has anyone else had success with GC adapters on netplay?
