Wii U GameCube adapter doesn't work

The GameCube controller adapter doesn't work at all, I've tried different usb ports, disabled that one power setting for usbs, and even tried different versions, but none of them work. I've followed the guide until it says something about direct connect, I litterally cannot find that setting ANYWHERE. what do I do?
P.S. "Yes I have set it to GameCube Adapter for Wii U" in the controller settings

Direct connect doesn't exists anymore, how you have it set now should be correct.

But none of the games I play register the GC controller's inputs at all.

Right now I've only tried Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2, but for some reason the keyboard still works, well at least in the menus, I havent even gone in the actual game yet. But I am going to try ssbm in a little bit.

I just tried Super Smash Brothers Melee, and the controller doesn't work on there either!

Well? Now what do I do? It used to work before I reinstalled windows 10, could that have something to do with it?

Did you reinstall the drivers?

I never touch any drivers, the system might have done it after I reinstalled Windows, however when I look at my drivers it says WUP-028 (which I assume is the GC adapter) has a "driver error"

When you update to windows 10 you have to reinstall the drivers.
