Its a drop in the bucket with the PS2's vast library, but getting even that many games to run is enough to impress me.

The very small selection would imply that they are customizing a base PS2 emulator for each game, like how Nintendo does VC titles.

I think the jaguars are an improvement in some ways. This is all completely true. But while their IPC is around double that of the PPE as a result of these and many more improvements the clock rate is only half. Giving them about the same performance per core (slightly more technically) than their predecessors. They have about the same singlethreaded performance and around 3x the multithreaded performance of the xenon cpu. The main reason for this is most of the die area and power consumption in these new SoCs goes to the IGP. You can of course understand why being that these are game consoles after all.
Btw it's nice to see someone active in this subforum with some solid background knowledge in microprocessor components.
