I started the game a week ago, and everything runs pretty fine until I get to the final boss area cutscenes. Then the game starts running at 50% speeds. Does anyone else have this problem?

Sorry man, just started this game on Dolphin. I have noticed that the cutscenes slow things down quite a bit. Anybody got a clue why? Ive found that in some cutscenes there is a bit more being rendered, but not too much. Also, in some cutscenes, its rendering the camera view I was already in, and sometimes with even less being rendered, and it goes from 100% speed to around 80% speed. Audio gets off sync when im using the main builds, but I am using Delroths new AX-HLE builds, so it slows down (Im cool with this). But yeah, my hardware specs are in my profile if you have questions. Also, glitches come up a lot in general, it needs work.

I notice it happens more with a moving camera. I'm avoiding finishing the game, as Id like to finish it with not retarded looking ending cutscenes.

Yeah, I hope somebody will find out why this is such a problem, and maybe even have a possibility if being fixed.

It's normal. The cutscenes render much more than when you're playing yourself. For one, they use high-poly models for their motion-capture animations and facial expressions.
These normal cutscenes, however, shouldn't slow you that much down depending on your hardware and settings.

The ending cutscene of the game is very demanding. Unless you have decent settings and hardware, you'll experience slowdowns there's nothing you can do about.

If you're having problems with Delroths new HLE builds, try 3.0. I've personally verified the game to work from beginning to end without issues and perfect audio.

Next time, please post your Dolphin build, settings and full specifications (including model names and CPU clocks, etc).

Definitely not for facial animations - the only facial animation this game has is 20-30 different mouth and eyes textures for each character. I also don't remember several character models.

What part of the ending cutscene are you talking about? Most of it is prerendered as a THP file, if I remember correctly.

Been too long since I've seen/played this game, but yeah, they're still using textures for facial expressions, so skip that part.

There's definitely different models used for gameplay and cutscenes.

This (major endgame spoiler-alert) is the part I think they're referring to. Or atleast, this is where I noticed some drops back then.
It might've been pre-rendered, atleast partly. But it was still taxing.

I will have to check my extracted dumps again later then... I remember the model @ Char/emil.bin (CAB compressed) and the bounding box @ Char/emil.coll being used for both normal gameplay and cutscenes, and another model (BTL/Char/...) being used for battles. Can you give me any reason you have to think there are two separate models for normal gameplay and cutscenes?

Parts of this cutscene are pre-rendered. If you play with IR > x1, you should easily notice it because the pre-rendered video resolution is lower than your internal resolution. The first part (YT video timestamps: 00:00 -> 01:30) is Movie/ep08_s39.thp on the disc. The rest of that video is rendered at real-time with the game engine. Can you notice any performance difference between these two parts of the cutscene in Dolphin?

Nevermind, just checked them. It seems like they're (nearly) the same model.

Yeah, I did notice the pre-rendered part. The quality difference was colossal.
I really have to try it out again to verify. It's been over a year now, so I can't talk with absolute certainty.
But from what I remember, there was definitely a performance difference.

Can anyone provide a savegame for the ending portion?
