Wii System Menu freezing

I can't seem to get my wii system menu to work properly. I have the WAD for the menu and installed it through the tools tab, but when I run it I am greeted with the health and safety menu. I press A like any normal person would, and right before it fades to black, it freezes. Its extremely close to black but not quite there. I'm not sure what to do, and there is not a single other instance of this happening online, apart from a similarly described issue marked 8 years ago (?). Any suggestions to get this sorted out?

I haven't heard about this issue before either, but regardless, the proper way to install the Wii Menu isn't to just install a WAD for it. You will be lacking a bunch of necessary system files that way. I would recommend using Tools > Perform Online System Update.
