But such applications need homebrew channel, don't they ? And I've heard that your Wii cans get bricked if you use this channel, and I admit I'm a bit afraid of that (all my family uses the Wii you know, and I actually didn't buy it myself). But if there is a safe way to use the channel, I will certainly try.

Let me try to explain briefly...

1. Installing the homebrew channel = 100% safe
2. Launching apps from the homebrew channel = 100% safe
3. Installing stuff on your wii through the homebrew channel, from a trusted site such as wiibrew.org = safe, as long as they don't come with the warning: "This homebrew makes permanent changes to your Wii's flash memory (NAND) and should be used with caution."
4. Installing stuff you randomly googled without reading the instructions = risky
5. Installing bootmii = 99.99% safe (same brick risk as wii menu update 4.2), but the benefit is that you can backup everything on your wii, so you can recover from a brick
Specs: intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz;
16Gb RAM; Raedon HD 7900;

Almost all the applications that make changes on the NAND have that warning Tongue

It is not the same risk , bootmii overwrites one of three copies of the boot2 , the 4.2 update overwrites all of the copies. Although I would leave the same percentage because It could fail writing the information

If you don't use crappily coded piracy tools that require nasty Wii soft modifications to use (mostly found from GBATemp) you should be fine.

How to install Homebrew Channel :
http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_setup (ALSO REMEMBER TO INSTALL BOOTMII AS BOOT2 IF POSSIBLE AND TAKE A NAND DUMP. It will truly save your Wii if something goes wrong, although nothing shouldn't)

Use this to dump ISOes :
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=163598

Also, if you can't dump ISOes after installing HBC, use these. (You probably need these, but would be better to try without them before going onwards)

Use this to install a fake-signed IOS36 :
http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Dop-mii (Should be a one-click operation)

After installing fakesigned IOS36, use this to install tona's PatchMii cIOS :
http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/CIOS_Patchmii_Installer (Same here, if it asks for a IOS to use, select IOS36)

Wow, thank you all for advising me, but beware of not being too much out of the original topic, I'd be ashamed if someone got a warning because of me Smile

Sorry for double-posting, but I've just dumped my Brawl PAL copy disc. I've now an approximately 7.5 Gb large ISO, but I'm still having the sound problem : the music is fine, but the sound effects are weird, as if they were saturated, and there seems to be a short delay between the action and the associated sound. What shall I do ? I've already tried many settings...

Funny, my own ISO has the size of 8.3Gb, did you scrub it afterwards or something?

Yes I did in order to be able to put it on my 8 Gb USB key (I did a network dump cause I haven't any USB/SD device that can hold more than nearly 7.5 Gb), but I didn't mention it because I have the same problem with the uncompressed one...
